Nite Out

More freakin' snow. Lots of it. Went to a couple bars in the meat packing district. Drank Anchor Steam and had chili and a chili dog. Saw two cast members from 30 Rock.

Steak does sound good.

Another Day Off

So today is one last of the days off for the rehearsals. Tomorrow we get two more crew guys showing up and new console (mixer) for the monitors. It will be an action packed final three days and then BLAM!!! the first show. So far I have spent the day on my bed. I watched a movie and ate my weight in sunflower seeds. I stabbed my mouth biting one one the shells and it bled. Second time this week. Maybe I should lay off the seeds.

Last nite was fun. My friend and pal and tour manager arrived in the big city and we went to a movie and then voyaged up the subway to times square. I thought there was a 24 hour Apple store there but guess what, there isn't. It's another ten blocks north. We still went. Shopping at a computer store at 3am. Awesome. Trust me, it's way more fun when you're here.

Predictable.

Ten bucks says tomorrow I wake up and go to the studio until like 9 or 10 tomorrow nite then go back to my hotel. On the way to hotel I'll buy a six pack and let it know who it's daddy is while watching a movie.

It's nice to know my boss is reading my little world in words, and commenting on my family members comments. Heeeeeeeeyyyy yooooooouuuuuuuu!

I let the maids in today. Only the second time in the two weeks I've been here. They figured out I'm the one in this room and when they see me they ask if I need stuff. So far I have only bugged them for more soap. I'm such a supah tard about being neat that I haven't really needed them.

Right now I'm sucking on sunflower seeds. I'm not eating them, just suckin' on 'em. Brian Fechino is now engaged, congrats.

My life is boring, eh?

I totally bought these shoes yesterday. I totally love them. I want to make out with them and hold them close under warm dark covers in the worlds softest bed. That was one of the highlights of my day off.

I woke up and watched a movie. Ten bucks and I'll tell you what it was. After that I hopped on the subway and headed into Manhattan. I went and got these shoes and then went to the Virgin Megastore and picked up some CDs and movies. Met up with my pal Jamie and we went to see Blood Diamond. It was great. Then it was home time. Not for long though. I few minutes in the hotel and then I met up with the bassist and guitar/keyboardist from the band and we had some drinks. All in all a very nice but very expensive day off.

Not much done today. I stayed in bed til almost 1 and then ordered some crap for the tour and went to studio for a bit. I cleaned off some cymbals and come cases then made my way back here. Gonna hook up with a couple of the guys and watch a movie here at the hotel. I need to eat first.

Two Days Off

So the past couple of days have been much of the same. Rehearse, eat, coffee, rehearse, eat, sleep. The 7 guys here (including me) have really used that time well to get to know one another. Fast friends. The music hall is getting busier too. John Legends band is in there practicing too and then in another suite is a dude called LCD Soundsystem. Then in other rooms there are some local bands. When you walk in the hall its loud and horrible sounding. Too much music, too many different keys at the same time.

It's been snowing so there is lots of crappy muddy snow on the ground and I didn't have the proper shoes. I bought some. Boots. From Target. They were the only store open. These boots hurt. I won't wear them again for a while. We have two days off. I need to find something to do. Jamie, seriously, entertain me.

How do they do it?

I am not even the slightest bit understanding of how a person can fall asleep on the subway. Aren't they scared that they will miss their stop? Crazy. I spent two and a half hours getting from the studio to the hotel and then the hotel to Broadway and 30th and back. Freakin' subways are wicked slow and walking around in 6 inches of snow and 30mph winds doesn't help. I managed to get something very important done though. Power supplies for the keyboards. Awesome. I polished some cymbals too. They are supah sweet looking now. Tomorrow I will attack more cases and the stickers that plague them.

The un-named accountant was supposed to fly home today. Too much snow. He will be here until Sunday now. I think that is a good testament to how much snow there is. Also, to sister number two, I had Brooklyn Brewers Pennant Ale two nights ago (its actually my fav beer at Taphouse at home) Arrogant Bastard Ale last night and tonight I am having Harpoon IPA. I will go watch a movie now. Hard Candy.

Correction...

It was suggested to me that I talk up my tour manager a little more.

I had a steak dinner with my ripping awesome tour manager who I think is pretty much the greatest person this side of sarcasm. Hi you.

It's a Birthday Bash!

Happy 27th birthday Christina Ricci. Oh, and my friend Brandi too.

For those of you who were curious about my new job... here is a hint. For those of you that knew, today was the first official day of rehearsals. Easy Peasy. A much needed trip to Guitar Center and a lot of tweakin' and then a lot of sittin'. Don't know what tomorrow will hold. I think I'm gonna try to find a Home Depot and buy every color of electrical tape they have. How's that for glory? Glitz and Glamour baby.

NYC

Driving a truck in NYC is a nightmare. Especially after a 25 hour trip from Tulsa, OK. Non freakin' stop. Once we got into the city it was another two hours of driving. Traffic was horrible and there are so many places you are not allowed to go in a big truck. It was lame. Despite being so tired I decided it would be a good idea to see my pal Jamie. I hadn't seen her since April 2006 so I fought exhaustion and spent some good ol times with her. All of that was yesterday.

Today the un-named accountant and I went to the rehearsal space and loaded all the gear in and then our guitar tech arrived and we set it all up. We had a great lunch and some Starbucks. I bought junk while waiting for our car to pick us up and take us back to the rehearsal space. Once I made it back to the hotel I decided it was a good idea to buy a 6 pack and drink it all alone while watching a move. Crank. It was pretty good. All action. Nothing to make your brain work though. Tomorrow the band gets here and we will fine tune everything and then rock the fuck out for 16 days. I like black. Bye.

Rock It

Spent some time with my new employers. Nice guys. Hung out at their studio for a while and ate good chili and loaded some cases in a truck. Lots of coffee and a ripping awesome steak dinner with my tour manager.

My gay new hard drive crashed. Thankfully I kept my old one just in case. Here I am with old faithful while the new guy sits in my bag waiting to be sent back. I feel fat. Tomorrow around noon I'll load up the last of the gear and head to NY. It's gonna be a long two day drive but once I get there I'm stationary for 17 days. I hope my toolbox made it okay.

The final hour

So I have one hour until I need to leave my apartment to go by my parents to meet mom. Shes taking me to the airport. This is the longest hour of my life. I have been packed ('cept my computer) for a while now. I have just been sitting around waiting for the time to pass so I can leave. Maybe I could leave early and get a quick bite to eat. I'm not hungry though. Oh well. Life Part 2 starts today. First stop, Tulsa, OK.

I bet you didn't know you can subscribe to this blog. On the far right of your browsers address bar there is a little (if you use Firefox, which you should) orange button. Click it. See what happens.

Shackin' Up

A couple of days ago I and three others got in a truck and drove. 19 hours from Richmond, VA to Lake Ozark, MO. A long freakin' time. 1000 miles. I listened to all but the last 90 minutes of the book Angels & Demons. I'm looking forward to the last little bit. The real point is that once we got to Lake Ozark we walked in to the hotel my boss man told me our event was being held in just to find out it was the wrong hotel. Thankfully the lady at the front desk could help us out. After 19 hours you just don't want to hear that news and I'm glad that she knew what was up.

Once we finally got to the right hotel we tried checking into our 2 rooms just to find out they had only booked one. It only had one bed. Sweet. Four guys, one bed. It sucked. They made it all better the next day, thankfully. Now it's all good and I don't have to spoon with the lighting guy.
