just to let the general public know... i just bought gas in tulsa for 3.69 and saw it in oklahoma city today for 3.43

so it was time to get a new license. i did a few google searches for OK DMV that all came up with nothing. i asked a few people about DMV and this is what i got "we dont have one". seems as if they have something here called tag agencies. which are not government owned. they are like, the 7-11 (which they dont have here either) for tags and plates. i got advice and went to the one that is about 20 minutes from me. i had my insurance card and registration and blah blah. the lady says "i need proof on insurance in OK". alright, that was my fault, i should have thought about it. i got in my car and drove the 20 minutes back home and got a print out of my insurance card from progressive. 20 minutes back to the tag agency. she cant help because my OK insurance isnt active until july 31. so i say "well i guess i will just get my license" and she says "i cant do that here" which makes me point to the sign on the door that says they do drivers licenses. "oh we cant do your first one here, you have to go to the department of public safety". so i go. its a few more minutes away from home. i walk in and there is a HUGE sign that says cash and checks only for license. also, i need a birth certificate or passport. so i get in my car, drive a little over 20 minutes back home, get my checkbook, passport and birth certificate. i get back there and get in line. it was 11 people deep and it took them an hour and 5 minutes to get to me. i gave some dude a lot of info on me and took a quick vision test and he said "now youre ready for the tag agency" i laughed and said "you mean you dont do them here huh?, ever heard of DMV?". so i get to a tag agency and get in another line. the lady took a picture with the same camera as the guy at the pblic safety place, scanned my fingerprints with the same machine, had me sign the same digital application and then printed my new license. (and just to make a comment, they dont do state inspections here, so whos to say the guy driving next to you has working brakes?)

i said "why do you think they dont have DMV here"
she said "who wants to wait in line for 5 hours for their tags?"
i said "i dont wait 5 hours, i do it online instantly and for less money"
she said "that doesnt work here"
i wanted to say "yeah, cus it would render you useless. get a fucking DMV website so i dont have to drive all the way back here for stickers and plates."

it was more expensive too, 26 bucks for a license, in VA its only like 8. at any rate, i left my apartment at 9:30 am and finally got half of what i needed at 1pm. 3 and a half hours total, roughly 140 minutes of driving round trip, three different locations and a lot of not uderstanding why it all cant be done under one roof like the rest of the country does it, later.... i have this....

ok, so yeah, im flying into NC tuesday and work a few days, truck to richmond. hang out a few days and leave in truck for florida on the 6th. fly back to tulsa on the 9th. i will be needing room and board and car. thanks.

so there is a chance i will be visiting the east coast city of richmond for a couple of days in early august. i will keep you posted.

id just like the world to know that in my last few days in richmond, i went to dmv with my dad so he could get new tags for both of his cars. we even put them on the cars together, he the truck, i the camero. not sure why he would have gotten a ticket for either of them.

I'm sad now

a friend of mine, actually a few, told me a long time ago to watch arrested development. i never did. sitting around in tulsa not having anything to do, i downloaded some tv. wow, this show is great. if you have the chance, watch it.

so im not sure if i mentioned it, but when i was out last week buying my cd shelf, i couldnt. visa seemed to think it was a good idea to cut me off. they said all the money i was spending out of state was suspicious (as if i dont work on the road). well, i had to change my address before i could use my card anymore. so i did. i changed it for visa and every other thing i could think of. that includes DMV. bad idea. so my license goes away on aug6. i have to change my insurance and then get new tags and plates and then get a OK license. i wish i wasnt so on top of things. damn it.

night life

so there is something in tulsa that is neat. a trolly. it goes from bar to bar, every half hour, and takes you around the city FOR FREE. no drunk driving. neato. so i went out with the justins again. one lives in my building, one lives in another building but is the others best pal. i ate whataburger. i went to 3 bars, played pool horribly and didnt get enough sleep.

just wanted you to know im not hiding out in my apartment all day and night. ive gone out twice.

Amy has a blog too..... though she posts about as frequently as a cicada swarms. dad, i am having lunch with a sound company owner next week and have already lined up two small shows at a bar. amy, i can get beer from missoula mt here but for the most part, i dont want to talk about the beer situation here. did you know there is a worldwide shortage of hops and beer prices are expected to go up 20% by the end of the year and that a lot of micro-brewers will have to retool their recipes. mom, my brain is empty.

how do you follow all of that

so with all the big news of moving and videos and camo futons, what the fuck do i tell you now?

I got this one on craigslist today. $75 bucks. It's in really good shape. Slight animal odor. I Febreezed it. Will be buying some disinfectant spray too. All in all, I'm just glad I have somewhere to sit. My home feels far more complete now.

So while out on the front porch I noticed something a little crazy.... my building has a name. Virginia Ann. It's carved in stone at the top. Thats a little creepy huh?
