portland

i could spend a week telling you about the day off i had in portland. woah.

after the radio performance we had the rest of the day off. i got back to my hotel room at about 1pm and quickly plotted out a trip of breweries and bars that i needed to visit. by 3 i was in a hotel van on the way to McMenamins. I had some chili and a couple of good beers. while there i made quick buddies with the bartender. i think that when people realize that you are on a quest to try as many local beers as possible in a day, they (if they also like beer) are instantly part of your family. the bartender insisted that i add a place called Widmers to my list. he even said that if i could leave right then that he would take me there. super cool. so i got to widmers courtesy of a wonderful portland resident and had a couple more really really great beers. also i had a plate of bbq meatballs. once i was done there i hit up Bridgeport brewery and bakery. i had to take a cab to that one. very nice and knowledgeable young lady. she told me whatever i do... walk to the next planned destination and dont waste my time with a cab. at bridgeport i stuck with the two beer plan and had some great black bean chicken soup. i paid my tab and started my brief trip down the street to a beer drinkers holy land. Rogue. while very drunkenly waltzing to Rogue I got in touch with my new pal Zee Avi. she met me there and sat with me for the rest of the night.... which lasted til very late. i feel bad for the poor girl. i started drinking very big beers about 4 hours before she joined in. we talked about a lot, im sure. i mean, i guess. i know i talked a lot. i talked about how i saw the grand canyon and cried when i talked to my dad. i even got choked up talking to her about it. i bought a rogue tshirt and was so hammered that i left it there. i drank Hair of the Dog beer for the first time and i hope that when i die they bury me in a pool of it.

basically, in about 10 hours, i had about ten beers, all well over 5% and some over 10%. i made a list of them all and will surely be updating the ratebeer.com list. i am happy that the people of portland were so good to me. i am happy that zee made sure i didnt die and got back to my hotel just dandy. portland, i am jealous.... my 7-11 sucks compared to yours. i will see you again.

4 shows left.

only 4 shows left on this lil pete yorn tour. portland, san fran, and two LA shows. in case you were wondering.

today was in instore. i bought 5 cds that i am pretty sure i needed. right now i can only remember three of them. but yes, i needed them. they gave us a shirt too. which is nice. i like free shirts... that are black... and are mediums. i dont mind wearing them at work.

tomorrow is a day off in portland. kinda. we have one little radio show to do and then i will try to take the evening to visit a couple of breweries. after all, portland is the unofficial beer capital of the world. its also home to the worlds strongest beer. 29%er.

i am going to go and eat some microwavable food that i bought at a truck stop a while ago. enjoy your day. thanks.

me.

RIP

My yo-yo died today. At least it broke on the way down and not the way up.

Relax

As a gag I purchased a yo-yo. I played with them like crazy in middle school but it has been over 15 years since I really took the time to spend some quality time with a nice duncan imperial. Its bright orange and its wonderful. Maybe its just due to the pure over and over and over but I find it pretty soothing.

Tour is winding down. We have 7 shows left in 5 cities. I get home august 29 and fly back out on sept 3 for one show. Home on the 5th. Then I get like two weeks for me.... Maybe.

my netbook

so there are 12 dudes on this tour. thats a lot. no junk bunks. every bit of space is taken up. my response to that is leaving all my crap under the bus in the bays. computer, xbox, luggage. everything. we all already know the solution for the xbox problem... playstation portable. now the solution for my 17" and 10lb computer.... an HP mini. so far i love it. i will love it even more when Google releases its operating system for the netbooks next year. its so tiny. i keep it behind my pillow in my bunk and its not in my way when i try to sleep or its not sitting in a huge bag in the front lounge like the 4 i am sitting next to as i type this. i dont like invading shared space on the bus and the PSP and my new mini take care of that. i am pretty sure that i will be leaving my big computer at home from now on.

by the way, i am pretty sure i am going to paris soon

who remembers what

days pass, i plug things in, i tune things, i unplug things, whatever. after a while days on a bus and days in clubs and days in hotels all just blend in. i cant even tell you special things about times in my recent life. they are all just a blur of dittos. i know i drank a tiny bottle of grey goose in detroit with some dominos. i mean, i cant even really tell you when the last time i blogged was. i know that tonight pete decided that we should change guitars with every capo change and it made me happy. i know that i spent most all of my time in NYC in my hotel room. i did see my good pal jamie. it was nice. its alway nice to see people that you know and care about that dont exist on your bus. chicago now, for 4 days. lots of hot dogs, no less than 25, i promise. bye bye
