so rehearsals are almost over. its the last full day. tomorrow we pack up. during this time i have done some organizing, ripped open a keyboard, cabled up and then uncabled a custom keyboard case (a gutted piano). this job is always handing me new things to learn. i ordered some more tools too... go figure. oh yeah, i also learned that im pretty decent at foosball. so far this week, undefeated. at least 15 games by now.
one of the most fun and gratifying things that has happened is that i got to test out a little something i dreamed up while on the last tour. my pal luke and i put together a custom guitar tech pedal while i was in between tours. now i have it and i am getting to play with it and its just wonderful. we call it The Hot Beef Injector because of how it injects one signal into another. seriously, im giddy. were even gonna make some really nice ones and see if we can sell em.
i got a new video game. so thats good. also, a new kind of deodorant.
I'm a jammin' dude and I need a jammin' way to get all my jammin' thoughts and happenings out. I don't care about punctuation or spelling or much other than hot dogs and beer and xbox. Thanks.

back in the groove
so i would just like to mention a few things. i am back in tulsa for a bit. i am glad i dont still live here. last night i got really hungry and decided that i wanted a pizza. no dice. every pizza delivery place was closed... at 11:30. there was once place open but they had a wait of over an hour. i want a pizza in 30 minutes, late. how freakin crappy.
also, i get to my hotel room and the firs thing i notice is really loud latin music. i walk to my window, look down the 9 stories to the ground and see a concert in the courtyard next to my hotel. its like, loud, in my room even though im that far away with the windows closed. stupid. i go to work, i get back at 9:30 pm. still with the latin music. i called the front desk to ask about it. they said it would be over at ten. nope, they played way later. at 10:40 i called the cops. whadda ya know, the cops are there (which i figured) and its a totally permitted concert. my question, how stupid is your town to drive tourists (which is the second largest income of tulsa) crazy with stupid music late at night that keeps them from being comfortable. and let me tell you, i could see the crowd.... tourists were not at the concert. like 150 mexicans were. even better, at 8:30am the next day, some dude was already playing drums. holy crap. i wanted him to die. or at least break something important, like his back.
not to mention my last minute high speed rush to get to the liqour store saturday night. i got there 5 minutes before closing time... cus remember no beer sales on sunday or weekdays past 9pm.
so anyway, it was nice to see my old friends again. as much as i loved meeting new friends on the pete yorn tour, its nice to have some xbox'ers in my company. freakin ps3, pfff. (LOVE YOU PETE GUYS, fan boy forever!!)

ok dad, here you go...
it was recently brought to my attention that i have not posted anything in weeks. i looked back and sure enough, nothing in weeks.
a lot has happened and a lot has passed thru my head. i want to bring up two things. when you microwave a hot dog, wrap it in a paper towel. and if you like the feel of a warm soft bun, microwave those too (but for way less time). it helps to have a little cup of water in the microwave as well. keeps em moist and they wont break as easily when you go to stuff em full of crap. i had 4 really solid hot dogs today and they were all made in the microwave. i am a big fan of the grill, but i dont have one here right now. the first two were spaghetti and cheese and the second two were salsa, chili sauce, cheese and pepper. awesome. i had a lot of hot dogs out on the road but its really been a while since i actually got my fill. something like 10 this week already.
so after portland we did san francisco. i got the chance to go to the google world headquarters and get a bunch of free stuff. awesome. i bought a little bag for my litter computer. i wore a hoodie for two days. i mean holy crap SF, it was august. why the hell is it 50 degrees? from SF on to LA. i hung out with my pal chicken feed (an old drum tech pal of mine who is not really old at all). my crappy friend robert from richmond was in LA as well but never showed face. what an ass robert, what an ass. i bought myself quite a few new little guitar tech toys while i was in the LA area too. the first of the two LA shows was very stressful for me... as was the soundcheck of the second show. by showtime on night two i really got all my issues taken care of. wonderfully enough, a lot of my troubleshooting was done with one of my new tech toys.
being the end of the tour, it still wasnt hard to walk away. i knew i was going to see everyone in a weeks time. we only had 4 days off and then a quick trip back out to san diego-ish for one show. in the time that i was home, jennifer was there was with me. i showed her a lot of richmond. personally i dont think she liked the parts i showed her. kinda worries me a bit but hopefully i can convince her... if i can trick her into thinking im a catch, i can trick her into anything. well like i said, 4 days and then back out. a quick 36 hours on the left coast and then back home. this time alone.
i have been working on an idea for another awesome little ditty for my guitar tech station and spent a bit of this past week working on that with a dear old friend of mine, Luke. he really saved the day as far as designing a circuit to make my job a lot easier. i do like taking a little credit though, for coming up with the idea. we built a prototype and i will take it on the upcoming tour to test it. if it works like supah dupah then we will get a really nice looking proper one made. im super excited. there is a market of like 4 people out there who would also want one... still would be neat to know even those few people are using something we created.
so yeah, another week home and then up to jersey for one last hoorah with my pete yorn fam. there was a really cool line up on this show. i wished i could have gotten there in time to see tonic, oh well. the last show flew by. it was a shorter set than normal. everything went well. many hugs were had at the end. i made a lot of new friends on this past tour and learned a lot more about my job and what it means to really be a good tech. hopefully i was able to execute those bits of knowledge. i mean, i guess i did... they didnt execute me. i am really looking forward to the possibility of working with, or just running into, all of those guys again.
so now i am in the middle of another 5 day stint here in richmond. i am catching up on some very neglected xbox. i got a couple of new games. i have made a wonderful new friend in my niece Mia. we play lots of wii together and she even enjoys some xbox. we chill out and watch movies. shes been a real blessing to have around. keeps me fresh and young. we say booger a lot.
so thats the summary of the past few weeks. a lot took place. i ended a wonderful chapter of my life. and in a few days i get to start one more. with 3 other bands on this upcoming hanson tour, i have the chance to make a lot of new pals. heres to them not sucking!
